While iPhone is known to make its debut in South Korea shortly, a stake of new worms targeting iPhone has been reported in overseas.
Hackers from Netherland and other countries have come up with new worms re-modifying iPhone without revealing them to its owners, according to foreign reports on November 24. The worm, dubbed the ¡®Duh Worm,¡¯ allows hackers to create a fake log-in page and steal passwords.
The worms take advantage of iPhone users habit of browsing web without turning on security locks.
The iPhone worm steals data from phonebook, e-mails and photos stored in the device when users log into the web with iPhone¡¯s wireless LAN.
¡®Jailbroken¡¯ iPhones users-- those who have unlocked security software installed in the iPhone device in order to download contents outside Apple¡¯s official App Store-- are becoming the first target of hackers.
South Korea has not detected the worm attack yet, but experts point out that it is merely a time of matter to witness the worms within the country upon the introduction of iPhones since no vaccine programs for iPhone have been prepared.
