Sales of Samsung Electronics¡¯ Galaxy Note 2 surpassed one million units in South Korea, showing its continued popularity despite the launch of the iPhone 5.
The company said Monday the latest wireless gadget achieved a million-selling record in just three months after its launch in late September. Domestic and worldwide sales reached 5 million units, three times higher than its predecessor Galaxy Note 1 in early phase sales.
Galaxy Note 1 reached 10 million unit sales in 10 months after the launch, but the new edition is expected to reach the milestone in four to five months given the current momentum. A variety of applications plus S Pen functionality contributed to continued popularity, the company said.
Unlike Galaxy Note 1, Galaxy Note 2 was released in the same design and model version through five US telecom carriers - AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint and US Cellular.
